Philly raised, Brooklyn based progressive soul artist Bilal returns to St. Louis, bringing back for fans his genre-blending brand of soul music. Since the late 90s, Bilal has successfully fused soul, electronic, hip-hop, jazz, rock, and blues into an ear catching sound that has captivated listeners across the globe. His unique musical skills have seen him collaborate with some of the music worlds’ biggest names, including Jay-Z, Common, De La Soul, Robert Glasper, Talib Kweli, Erykah Badu, and the late J. Dilla to name just a few. His live performances engage and excite, while his recorded works have garnered critical acclaim from all types of media, even earning him a Grammy nomination in 2011 for his song Little One off his latest album, “Airtight’s Revenge”. The track was dedicated to his eldest son, who has autism, and Bilal used his Little Ones Tour in 2011 to raise money for autism awareness.
The show will also feature sets from local soul vixen Tiffany Elle, backed by her live band; the every funky fresh Lamar Harris & Thelonius Kryptonite collaborating on the tables and mic; individual DJ sets from Nappy DJ Needles and 18andCounting; Black Spade on the mic; and finally a sound clash with Needles, Spade, and 18andCounting. This will be a musical experience that will be talked about for quite some time.
