It seems like Drake is trying his hand at television again, but this time he will be behind the scenes. Teaming up with Netflix, Drake will executive produce the new drama season, Top Boy. Original stars of the series such as, Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson will reprise their roles. Charles Steel, Alsadair Flind, and Yann Demange will also return to the team to executive produce. The new season will premiere in 2019.
Yesterday on Twitter, Actor, Ashley Walters announced the series was making its comeback! In the past, Drake has been very vocal about his love for the show and now he’s bringing the show back for fans of the show, including himself. This move marks just the latest step in Drake’s journey to omnipresence in the realms of music and film.. Speaking in The Hollywood Reporter’s new cover story, Drakes reveals that he’s now looking to get into making more films.
Drake also reveals he’s collaborating with Anonymous Content, the production house behind the Spotlight movie and the show Mr. Robot, for an untitled TV series during the interview. Drake appears eager to talk about his ambitious push into film and TV through several of his tweets.
We will certainly be on the lookout for the multi-platinum artist debut into the world of film. Top Boy has two seasons which are streaming now on Netflix. Be sure to catch up!
