Straight outta the Chicago suburb of Englewood, the rapper known as Lil Durk is making his mark in music. On a fast track musically since his 2011 release Iā€™m a Hitta to his most recent 300 Days, 300 Nights the one time GBE affiliate and now Def Jam OTF Coke Boys signee begins his multi city tour. Ā The 2nd stop of this trip will bring Durk to St. Louis performing Friday 02/19 at FUBAR.

I was able to speak with Durk about a number of things before he hit the road. If you are familiar with Durk you know heā€™s a very laid back guy. While rumors swirl around Durkā€™s relationships with Keke Palmer and Dej Loaf but heā€™s very hush hush when it comes to whether or not heā€™s attached. When it comes to beefs they’ve all been pretty much squashed he’s working projects with Dej Loaf and Young Thug and the artist seems content with his grind residing now on the West Coast.

There are a few things that seem to stir Durk. Perhaps it is his focus and that he doesn’t smoke or drink that keeps him on task and grounded. He describes his children as being the greatest thing in his life right now and in previous interviews he says that heā€™s calmed down alot. In the past Durk was definitely not afraid of static whether on the streets of Chicago or stepping toe to toe with the rapper The Game in a LA night club. He credits his children for helping him turn away from conflict and the streets. I wonder if the weather helps too. Nevertheless, he and his OTF Ent family are getting their minds right preparing to hit 18 cities with the last stop at Austin’s SXSW.

Lil Durk is concentrating on his career and staying busy. He even has plans for the big screen. When I asked the Chicago native about Spike Leeā€™s Chiraq, he quickly shoots out a ā€œFuck that movie,ā€ he went on to say that heā€™s happy his OTF fam Hypno Carlito was able to do his thing but they are going to make the real Chiraq movie.
