In addition to corporate temples (like the hallowed Beaverton campus), and retail locations (like the factory store in North Portland, which is a treasure hunter’s goldmine),  has added “brand experience” location in downtown Portland, that gives Swoosh fans a new source of NSW, NikeiD and other harder-to-find items, as well as a place to pay homage to the brand itself.  has long had a flagship store in downtown Portland, but even at a glance, it’s clear that this new door strives to transcend simple commerce. Starting with huge Doric columns original to the 1928-built building, to a 26,000 square foot mausoleum of an interior, visitors are presented with the full range of  history – salvaged gym materials from local high schools provide an authentic old-school athletic aesthetic, a full NikeiD studio provides the cutting edge tech experience, and The Bowerman Wall, a 12×7 foot media wall, displays a mosaic of 1,404 images, tying everything together. In addition to being a Swoosh shrine, the new space is totally green – it’s received the highest-possible LEED Platinum certification, thanks to diligently sourced building materials, and careful construction. The store keeps the opening ceremony going today with an appearance by Portland Trailblazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge, and the release of the Doernbecher Freestyle VIII Collection. Check out images of the store after the jump – definitely worth a visit while in Portland.
