Auto lovers are well aware that the Geneva Motor Show is on the horizon – the upgraded models and limited editions are coming quick and fast. For automakers whose 2010 offerings were “the best,” it’s always a challenge to show that they’ve made meaningful upgrades to their vehicles. Land Rover met that challenge head on with Range Rover Autobiography Ultimate Edition – last year’s “standard” Autobiography Edition was a luxury saloon on par with any luxury vehicle in existence, matched to an SUV body, with a vicious engine powering the whole thing. This year’s Autobiography Ultimate Edition meets that standard and raises it: four separate bucket seats using the most luxurious materials available, iPads in the headrests, Kalahari wood trim, and yacht-inspired teak lined cargo area. On the outside, the Ultimate gets special badging and a few new paint options, and the luxe SUV is available wit ha 4.4-liter V8 turbodiesel or a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, both mated to ZF’s eight-speed automatic transmission and capable of catapulting the truck to sixty in 7.5 or 5.1 seconds respectively.
