This Sunday at 5pm at Wohl Center the St. Louis Trotters will conclude their Sophomore session in the growing IBA League. This Sunday the Trotters face a familiar opponent in the Springfield Xpress, coached under Illinois Mr. Basketball 1997 award winner, Sergio McClain. During their earlier match ups this season the lost all but one game and feel that a return to their home court will spur them to victory. High lights of this season have been the veteran play of Trotters Forward Marlowe Currie. Currie has averaged over 30 pts. per game this season and has been consistent on the floor on defense and offense. A new addition to the team this session was Trotters’ #1 Jerry Pankey. New to the Trotters system he definitely is a pure shooter and handles the point position very well.

Team owner Milan Pepper expressed some concerns with the teams consistency and feels that recruiting top talent from around the region will be a priority. “We are very grateful to the players and veterans that have supported us in our attempt to bring professional basketball back to St. Louis. We have something special here and we know it. We are growing more and more and intend on being a vehicle for economic commerce and a driving force in the community, “ says Pepper.

Although the session is over the Trotters organization has it’s work cut out for them. Director of Operations DeWarren Smith, members of the front office and coaching staff are working diligently with Better Family Life to co host a Peace Fest 2013 Basketball Tournament for the youth 3rd through 8th grades to be held August 24th and 25th. The Trotters are also have a collaboration planned with Share My Kickz Foundation and the MO Black Expo. While these events would be a great addition to the Trotters expanding base, it is merchandising that excites. Director Smith the most, “we can’t keep them in stock,” referring to Trotters T-shirts they have been selling for the past 2 months. “With the addition of the Trotters Alumni we’ll have our own limited throwback brand,” says Smith.

This Sunday at Wohl Center come out and support the St. Louis Trotters Professional Basketball Club. This Sunday they will feature the Junior Rough Riders, the St. Louis Trotters Alumni Basketball Team, at Half Time Legend Camp will perform, and a special presentation by Share My Kickz Foundation to round out the evening, the dance perform group Hip Hop All Stars
