Sterling K. Brown does it again! One time for the culture as we celebrate his accomplishments!
Last night, the This Is Us actor, made history again by winning the award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama at the 2018 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
This is the third history making award for the actor. Brown made history weeks ago as the first black actor to win at the Golden Globes when he won for Best Actor in a Television Series drama. Last fall, he became the first black actor to snag an Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a drama series. No black actor had won in this category since 1998.
“What a blessing it is to do what you love for a living,” he said, during his acceptance speech.”What an honor it is to be recognized by your peers for a job well done. This room is a source of endless inspiration for me.”
With his newest honor, Brown became the first black to win in this category.
Actress Neicy Nash was one of the presenters for the category. Nash screamed with excitement as she read the actor’s name after expressing how she was rooting for everybody black. The actor then gave a moving speech upon accepting his award.
Brown’s winning streak has been nothing short of phenomenal. With appearances in movies and his role on This Is Us, we’re sure he’s just getting started.
