acrimony

2018 is starting out to be the year of great black film! After debuting as the leading lady in Proud Mary, Taraji P. Henson will be back in March to star in Tyler Perry’s film, Acrimony.

In the film, Taraji P. Henson plays Melinda, a faithful lover who has been standing by her man, Robert (Lyriq Bent), for far too long. She has been wronged by her man, but we don’t even know the extent of the damage it has done to their relationship… and to her psyche. Acrimony looks like it’s going to trace the early days of their relationship — with Ajiona Alexus and Antonio Madison playing younger versions of the once-happy couple. But in time, we’ll see how Robert strayed… and how Melinda plotted revenge.

This collaboration marks the third film for both Perry and Henson. The two previously worked together on Perry’s films, I Can Do Bad All By Myself and A Family That Preys. Still, there is something that looks incredible about Acrimony. From the looks of it, both Perry and Henson made this film their version of Fatal Attraction.

Like her roles in Not Easily Broken, Hustle & Flow, and I Can Do Bad All By Myself, Henson has the “angry, wounded black woman” role down to a science. Even her kick ass roles in No Good Deeds, Smokin’ Aces and Proud Mary prove she is also capable of giving us some action-packed films as well.

Acrimony is scheduled to be released March 30, and what better way to combat the lovey dovey, Valentine’s Day film, Fifty Shades Freed than with a love story gone wrong.

If the entire movie is as good as the trailer, then we know we are in for a treat. Check the it out below!
